About The Theatre Royal Haymarket

The Theatre Royal Haymarket is one of the UK’s best-loved theatres. Originally called the Little Theatre in the Hay, it is the third oldest in London and is a Grade I listed building that seats 893 people over four levels: the stalls, the royal circle, the upper circle and the gallery. Designed by John Potter and built in 1720, it's a real national treasure. Located in the centre of London’s theatreland, there are all sorts of wonderful attractions and places to eat and drink close by.

Great performance for a somehow outdated play
American realism, Miller an example, is a bit outdated, with its intense dramatic moments that, nowadays, serve more the purpose of showing the actors' excellency than that of moving an audience. For some reason, great American playwrights are less able to transcend time, and are shallower in terms of meaning, than great European playwrights. The play is attention-catching but its ending somehow dissatisfying. That said, the actors are so magnificent, and the mise-en-scene so well resolved, that the experience is worth it.
