Accidental Death of an Anarchist

Accidental Death of an Anarchist – Hilarious, political, relevant

Accidental Death of an Anarchist is based on a real-life incident from 1969. The Italian anarchist Giuseppe Pinelli was killed when he fell from a 4th floor window in a police station. He was being interrogated about a bomb attack that killed 17 people in Milan. Did he fall or was he pushed? Get cheap tickets for Accidental Death of an Anarchist and find out. It’s funny, rebellious and highly political, and the current perilous state of London’s Metropolitan police means it is more relevant than ever. It also happens to be packed with shocks, loud noises and bright lights, so isn’t for the faint-hearted. Can you handle it?

Daniel Rigby plays the Maniac. Tony Gardner plays Superintendent Curry, and the full West End cast will be confirmed nearer the time. Playful Productions presents a Sheffield Theatres and Lyric Hammersmith Theatre co-production of this classic play Accidental Death of an Anarchist, written by Dario Fo and Franca Rame. It is freshly adapted by Tom Basden, give a modern twist and set in London. Directed by Daniel Raggett, it takes to the stage at the West End’s Theatre Royal Haymarket for a strictly limited run between 12th June and 9th September 2023.

Absolutely brilliant
A fantastic update of Dario Fo's classic tale. The lead actor is a whirlwind! Definitely one not to be missed.

Great version
I've seen several 'accidental deaths'over the years, and this version, with updated script and great set - as well as fine performances - is a farce Mr Fo would be proud of. I personally found the sound a little off, which may be the set, but was more likely my bad lug holes.

Pretty good
Kept me entertained.

Manic
Absolutely manic most of the time with loads of laugh out loud moments while still making important political points.

Hilarious but poignant
A minimalist scene packed with fast action and snappy dialogue. A troublesome subject dissected with humour, wit andhonesty. This kind of theatre should never go out of fashion. A hell of a ride.

a memorable experience
Two hours of relentless rapid fire farcical comedy with a biting satirical undertone. The original Italian play has been updated and relocated to London making the cultural references more accessible. Outstanding performances. Best - and by a distance the funniest - show I've seen in some time.
