Set in Belle Époque Paris, Little Dancer tells the real story behind Edgar Degas' famous sculpture of a young ballet student. Marie van Goethem is fourteen, poor and determined to dance. When Degas makes her his model, the girl and the painter are bound together by art and ambition, in a city where glamour and hardship sit side by side.
New York City Ballet principal Tiler Peck, an Emmy Award winner and Olivier Award nominee, makes her West End debut alongside Julian Ovenden (High Society, Downton Abbey) as Degas, Laura Pitt-Pulford as Adult Marie and Josefina Gabrielle as Martine. The book and lyrics are by Lynn Ahrens and the music by Stephen Flaherty, the team behind Ragtime and Anastasia, while five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (The Producers, Crazy for You) directs and choreographs. It is a story of art, ambition and the girl behind a masterpiece, told through music and ballet.
