Till The Stars Come Down

It’s Sylvia and Marek’s wedding and you’re all invited. Over the course of a hot summer’s day, a family gathers to welcome a newcomer into their midst. But as the vodka flows and dances are shared, passions boil over and the limits of love are tested.

This ‘utterly unmissable theatrical event’ (WhatsOnStage), written by Beth Steel (The House of Shades) and directed by Bijan Sheibani (Barber Shop Chronicles), is a passionate, heartbreaking and ‘deliriously funny’ (Telegraph) portrayal of a larger-than-life family struggling to come to terms with a changing world.

What happens when the happiest day of your life opens the door to a new and uncertain future?

Don’t miss the West End premiere of Till The Stars Come Down at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 1 July.

A true representation of many working class weddings and events for sure.
The show started promptly at 7pm. Lively, funny, heartbreaking and honest. All the ensemble were wonderful and the entire show moved quickly. Pulling at the heartstrings. A wonderful new play with based events haunting present day. A great tuesday night in the theatre.

Stunning Performance by the whole cast but in particular the female actors. The range of emotions and realism of the writing absolutely Brilliant!!

Disappointing
Despite a strong and funny first half and some wonderful performances - shoutout to Dorothy Atkinson, who was brilliant - this was ultimately a disappointment. As usual, it was the writing. It felt as if Beth Steel just ran out of energy in the second half, and the play - in which the main theme is family - descended into a welter of yelling and hysteria between the three sisters. Such a shame. And the casting was odd - Maggie seemed more like Hazel's daughter than her sister...

Thrilling theatre about real lives
So rare to see an authentic play about working class life that is real and true

Outstanding show
this ‘sharply comic and deeply touching drama’ follows a tight-knit family gathering on a scorching summer’s day to celebrate the wedding of Sylvia and Marek. But as the drinks flow and the dancing begins, love is tested, loyalties are stretched, and long-held secrets are revealed.
