Director Patrick Marber is at the helm for a new production of Venus in Fur, a play that has wowed audiences ever since it first appeared in 2010 off Broadway. The Royal Haymarket theatre is your venue for a production that's predicted to make waves in the West End. Seldom has a two-part drama been so clever, so entertaining, so darkly funny and so popular. It's critically acclaimed stuff, starring the mysterious and enigmatic actress Vanda Jordan, played by Natalie Dormer, and the theatre director Thomas Novachek, played by David Oakes. The setting is downtown Manhattan, New York. The play is intoxicating thrilling and unusual. And it's on at the Haymarket for a strictly limited run of nine weeks, making tickets seriously desirable.
The plot? When the actress Vanda turns up out of the blue for an audition with Thomas, it's clear she's determined to land the leading role in his new play. But why? She seems totally unsuitable for the part. Thomas is about to give up hope after a string of terrible auditions, but this one turns out to be very different. Vanda actually knows every line by heart. The more desperate she gets, the more aggressive and strange she gets, and Thomas soon finds himself in awe despite her brashness and vulgarity. When both of them become caught up in the characters they're reading, Vanda takes charge. Suitable for people aged over 14.
